On the left side of the picture above, the peak flow has been set at 30 liters/minute, and the scooped out appearance of the pressure trace indicates that the patient is slightly dysynchronous. On the right side pressure augmentation has been added, which increases the peak flow rate in response to the patient's demand. Notice the improved dynamics, and pressure and flow waveforms that more closely resemble pressure support than assist-control. |
